Funding & Plans
Understanding your NDIS funding
Your NDIS plan is a personalised budget. Here's how the funding works — and how to make the most of it.
Support Categories
The three funding categories
The most flexible category — funds everyday support like personal care, household tasks, community access, and transport.
Funds supports that build your skills and independence over time — therapy, life skills training, support coordination, and employment support.
Funds one-off or larger investments like assistive technology, home modifications, and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).
Plan Management
How your funds are managed
Agency Managed
The NDIA pays providers directly. Simple, but less flexible in choosing unregistered providers.
Plan Managed
A plan manager handles payments on your behalf. More flexibility — can use both registered and unregistered providers.
Self Managed
You manage your own funds and pay providers directly. Maximum flexibility and control — requires more administrative effort.
